Khan and Singh were charged June 17 with altering public records, computer access and fraud, burglary, identity theft and conspiracy in what prosecutors described as an elaborate plot to better their odds of getting into college.

Khan is also accused of altering his Advanced Placement exam scores, stealing an English test he was caught cheating on, and pilfering master copies of tests, some of which were e-mailed to dozens of Advanced Placement students. He's facing three years in prison if he is found guilty.
